San Diego’s Post-Lozano Slump
San Diego’s season has unravelled since Hirving “Chucky” Lozano was loaned to the LA Galaxy earlier this month. The Mexican forward, who registered 20 goal contributions in 33 appearances for the club, was frozen out by head coach Mikey Varas after a disciplinary incident and injuries. Varas stated the player was not a “holistic” fit, and sporting director Tyler Heaps confirmed Lozano was no longer in the team’s plans.
Without him, San Diego have plummeted to 13th in the 15-team Western Conference. The Galaxy, who signed Lozano to address their own scoring drought, are only one point better in 12th.
