Atletico Tucuman vs Instituto Cordoba

Atletico Tucuman welcome Instituto Cordoba in the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura on Saturday, 22 August 2026, in a Group A encounter that pits two of the division's most stubborn defences against each other.

Team News and Injury Latest

No major injury or suspension concerns have been reported for either side ahead of this Round 6 fixture. Instituto boss Diego Flores has named a settled lineup during his side's recent unbeaten run and is expected to stick with the core that has delivered clean sheets in three of their last four league outings. The hosts have no fresh fitness worries, leaving the home dugout with a full squad to choose from.

Clausura Form Guide

Atletico Tucuman sit seventh in Group A after five matches, having collected eight points from two wins, two draws and a single defeat. Their defensive record stands out: only two goals conceded across those five Clausura outings, keeping three clean sheets. That resilience has been the foundation of a solid if unspectacular start, with the Decano scoring just four times at the other end.

Instituto travel north in far stronger shape. Diego Flores's men are unbeaten in four Clausura matches, winning the last three in a row to climb into second place in the group. The sequence includes a 2-1 victory over Lanus and back-to-back 1-0 successes, underlining their own defensive discipline and ability to edge tight contests. Across the Clausura, Instituto have conceded only once in 360 minutes of football.

Key Battle: Breaking the Defensive Walls

With both teams built on clean-sheet foundations, the decisive factor may be which attack can find a moment of quality. Atletico Tucuman have struggled for goals – their four goals in five Clausura games is the lowest return among the group's top eight – while Instituto have been clinical rather than prolific, scoring five times in their unbeaten run. The first goal could prove pivotal, forcing the opponent to abandon the defensive shape that has served them so well. Set-pieces and individual brilliance are likely routes to a breakthrough in what promises to be a match of fine margins.

What It Means

Victory for Instituto would keep them firmly in the hunt for top spot in Group A, while a win for Atletico Tucuman would lift them to within touch of the leading pack. With the Clausura group stage already approaching its midpoint, the result could prove significant when the final standings are decided.
