Borac Banja Luka vs Vikingur Reykjavik

Borac Banja Luka face Vikingur Reykjavik at their Gradski Stadion home on Thursday 27 August 2026 in the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff round. After a tight first encounter in Iceland, the tie remains finely poised with a place in the league phase on the line.

The Tie So Far

Vikingur and Borac met at Víkingsvöllur on 20 August in a first leg that refused to give either side a decisive advantage. The return in Bosnia now carries the weight of qualification, and with away goals no longer a tie-breaker in UEFA competitions, extra time and penalties are a real possibility if the contest remains level.

Home Advantage at Gradski Stadion

The compact 9,730-capacity Gradski Stadion has often been a fortress for Borac in European qualifiers. The Bosnian side feed off a fervent home crowd that packs the stands close to the pitch, creating an atmosphere that can unsettle visiting teams. Vikingur, for their part, demonstrated in the first leg that they are not easily fazed on their travels.

Key Battle: Midfield Control

With the tie still up for grabs, the battle for midfield supremacy will likely decide who progresses. Borac’s industrious central pairing will need to disrupt the Icelandic champions’ rhythm, while Vikingur will look to release their wide runners quickly on the counter. The side that imposes its tempo should edge closer to the group stage.

What's at Stake

The winner over two legs secures a spot in the league phase of the Conference League, guaranteeing six further European fixtures and a significant financial windfall. For Borac, it would represent a landmark achievement for a club with growing continental ambitions.

The second leg kicks off at 20:30 local time in Banja Luka. If the aggregate score is level after 90 minutes, the tie will be decided by extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout.
