How our forecasts did
The model had a difficult time predicting outright winners this weekend, with just four of the nine match result calls proving correct. The cautious win or draw projections fared much better, landing seven of the nine times to be our most successful topic of the round. Conversely, exact scoreline predictions proved to be the toughest, with only one of the nine calls hitting the mark. Total goals and both teams to score projections each yielded five correct calls from nine, while first team to score landed four. Finally, three of the nine half-time and full-time calls were right.

AZ Alkmaar 1-1 Willem II The weekend began with a surprise, as table-topping AZ Alkmaar were held at home by Willem II. Our model issued a firm call for a home win, given AZ's flawless start and Willem II's defensive struggles, but had to settle for a correct win or draw projection and a successful both teams to score call.

Twente 2-0 ADO Den Haag Twente maintained their perfect home record at De Grolsch Veste with a comfortable victory over winless ADO Den Haag. The model confidently backed a Twente victory and an opening goal for the hosts, while also correctly calling the exact 2-0 scoreline.
GO Ahead Eagles 1-1 Groningen An open contest at De Adelaarshorst ended level between two sides who had yet to keep a clean sheet. Our model leaned towards a GO Ahead Eagles victory but correctly anticipated that both teams would find the net.
Fortuna Sittard 1-5 Ajax Ajax brought their perfect away record to Sittard and dismantled a Fortuna side that had conceded a stream of big chances earlier in the campaign. The model secured correct calls for an Ajax win, more than 2.5 goals in the match, and Ajax to be ahead at the break before winning it.
Cambuur 3-0 NEC Nijmegen Cambuur secured an emphatic first victory of the season at the Kooi Stadion, sweeping aside NEC Nijmegen. Our model completely misread this fixture, siding with an away win based on NEC's strong road record.

Excelsior 1-2 Utrecht Utrecht managed to outscore Excelsior, continuing their trend of finding the net on their travels. The model wrongly projected an Excelsior victory but correctly called that both teams would score and that Utrecht would score the opening goal.
Heerenveen 0-0 Telstar A tight affair at the Abe Lenstra Stadion ended goalless. Our model backed Heerenveen to take the victory, but the only saving grace was a successful win or draw projection.
PEC Zwolle 0-7 Feyenoord Feyenoord were utterly ruthless at the MAC³PARK Stadion, extending their perfect away record with a devastating attacking display against a struggling PEC Zwolle side. The model issued a firm call for an away win and comfortably landed its projection for more than 2.5 goals, as well as correctly forecasting Feyenoord to lead at the break and win the match.
PSV Eindhoven 4-1 Sparta Rotterdam PSV Eindhoven continued their devastating attacking form, putting four past a shaky Sparta Rotterdam. The model confidently backed a PSV win, more than 2.5 goals in the match, and both teams to score, all of which landed successfully.
What we got wrong
The most glaring miss of Matchweek 6 came at the Kooi Stadion, where bottom-of-the-table Cambuur dismantled NEC Nijmegen. The model expected NEC to extend their perfect away record against a home side that had conceded over three goals per game and suffered three straight defeats on their own patch. However, the model did flag that NEC would be missing three starting players—including highly-rated defender Nejasmic—and those absences proved far more detrimental to their usual sharpness than projected.
AZ Alkmaar's failure to beat newly promoted Willem II also caught the model off guard. AZ entered the match with five wins and 16 goals, while the visitors had managed just one point and conceded 13 times. The model noted that Willem II were surprise winners in Alkmaar last November but assumed their current defensive disarray made a repeat unlikely. Instead, the visitors dug in to secure an unexpected point.
The latest round of fixtures reinforces the dominance of the division's traditional heavyweights, with Feyenoord, Ajax, and PSV Eindhoven all recording emphatic victories on the road, while early pace-setters AZ Alkmaar were handed a harsh reminder of the league's unpredictability.
