Samsunspor vs Fenerbahçe

Samsunspor welcome Fenerbahçe to the Süper Lig on Sunday evening, August 30, 2026, for a matchday three encounter that comes just four days after the visitors’ Champions League play-off second leg in Lyon. While Samsunspor aim to make home advantage count, Fenerbahçe must manage tired legs and a growing injury list.

Fenerbahçe Form Guide

Fenerbahçe’s recent results show a side yet to find consistency. A 4-2 home win over Konyaspor to start the league campaign was followed by a 2-1 away defeat, and they drew 1-1 with Lyon in the first leg of their European tie. The trip to France on August 26 ended their Champions League hopes, and the quick turnaround asks serious questions of squad depth. Across their last six official away matches, Fenerbahçe have managed just two victories, a record that will offer encouragement to the home side.

Team News and Injury Latest

Fenerbahçe’s medical staff have been busy. The squad lost several creative players after the Konyaspor match, although the return of Anderson Talisca provides a timely boost. Mason Greenwood, who has consistently created chances in the early weeks, remains the focal point in attack. Samsunspor, by contrast, report a clean bill of health and are expected to field an unchanged side from their previous outing.

Key Battle: Mason Greenwood vs Samsunspor’s Left Flank

Fenerbahçe will look to stretch the home defence through Greenwood’s movement off the right. The English forward’s directness and finishing will test Samsunspor’s left-sided defenders, who must resist the temptation to dive in and leave space in behind. If Samsunspor can limit Greenwood’s supply, they will go a long way to frustrating the visitors.

Samsunspor’s Home Resilience

Samsunspor have built a reputation for making life uncomfortable for the league‘s traditional powers on their own patch. While not short on ambition, their approach is likely to be built on defensive organisation and rapid transitions, looking to exploit any heavy legs in the Fenerbahçe midfield late in the game. The Black Sea side’s fans will sense an opportunity against a wounded opponent.

A point for Samsunspor would maintain an unbeaten home start, while Fenerbahçe know victory is essential to keep early pace with the expected title challengers. The short turnaround makes this a far trickier assignment than the visitors’ squad list would suggest.
