Omonia Nicosia return to Cyprus with the tie finely balanced at 1-1 after the first leg in Gibraltar, and their home form in Europe gives them every reason for confidence. Lincoln Red Imps will defend deep and look to frustrate, but they have shipped two goals per game on their travels and are yet to keep a clean sheet away this season. The crucial battle pits Omonia’s patient buildup against Lincoln’s low block — if the Cypriots break through early, the contest could become one-sided. Expect the visitors to carry a threat on the counter, but holding out for 90 minutes in a hostile environment looks a tall order.

Match ResultHome Win78%

Omonia’s only home appearance this season was a 1-0 win with a clean sheet, while Lincoln have lost half their away games and concede two goals per match on the road; after a 1-1 first leg the Cypriot side should have the quality to settle the tie at home.

Total Goals3 or more goals52%

All three of Omonia’s recent matches finished under 2.5 goals and Lincoln’s away games have seen exactly three on average, but the hosts’ defensive solidity at home points to a match that may stay tight; the need for Omonia to push for a win could open things up.

Omonia Nicosia vs Lincoln Red Imps FC: Europa League

Updated Sat 5 Sept

Omonia Nicosia host Lincoln Red Imps FC in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie on 13 August 2026. Cypriot champions Omonia enter the tie carrying significant absentees, while the Gibraltar title-holders aim to exploit any uncertainty in the home camp.

Team News and Suspensions

Omonia are without forward Kakoullis, suspended after his straight red card against Kairat. Centre-back Coulibaly must also serve a suspension, and left-back Fotis Kitsos is sidelined by a serious knee injury. Manager Berg must replace a regular centre-back and loses a forward who can stretch defences and press the back line. Lincoln Red Imps will be without the experienced midfielder Mandi due to yellow-card accumulation, opening a chance for Graeme Torrilla or another midfielder to shield the back three.

Tactical Contest: Patience Against Width

Lincoln are expected to set up in a 3-5-2, with Gomez and Toledano leading the attack. Their approach relies on building patiently and exploiting the artificial surface at their own ground, but on the road they will try to stay compact. Omonia typically line up in a 4-3-3, using the speed of Ewandro and Mayambela from the flanks. Without Kakoullis, Berg may need to adjust his press and ball retention, giving the visitors a foothold if they can frustrate the home crowd.

Form Guide

Lincoln Red Imps have recorded one win, two draws, and two defeats in their last five outings. Omonia arrive with three wins, one draw, and one loss in the same period, and they finished as champions of Cyprus. The Cypriot side possess greater individual quality on paper, but the disruptive impact of multiple enforced changes could level the contest.

What Comes Next

The return leg will be played in Gibraltar, where Lincoln’s familiarity with the conditions often makes them awkward opponents. A positive result for Omonia here would give them a cushion, while the visitors know that keeping the tie alive is essential ahead of the second leg.
