IF Brommapojkarna vs Degerfors IF

IF Brommapojkarna and Degerfors IF meet at Grimsta IP in the Allsvenskan on Sunday afternoon, with round 18 throwing up a clash between two sides eager to reset their recent form. BPK sit 11th on 21 points after a 2-1 defeat by Örgryte IS in their last outing, while 14th-placed Degerfors are looking to respond to a damaging 2-1 home loss against IFK Göteborg.

Team News and Injury Latest

Brommapojkarna will assess their squad after the Örgryte reverse, though no fresh injury concerns have been reported. The hosts have shuffled their starting eleven regularly this season, but a settled spine has often featured a 4-4-2 shape. Degerfors, who set up in a 4-2-3-1, are still searching for the right balance after a run of results that has left them flirting with the relegation play-off place.

Degerfors IF Form Guide

Degerfors arrive in the capital on the back of four defeats in their last five league matches. The most recent setback, a 2-1 home reverse against IFK Göteborg, means they have now lost 10 of their 17 Allsvenskan fixtures this term, conceding 27 goals. That sequence includes a brief spike of optimism in mid-August — back-to-back wins — but the subsequent slide has dragged them back towards the danger zone.

Key Battle: BPK’s Defensive Compactness vs Degerfors’ Central Threat

Brommapojkarna’s recent form is mixed — a win, three draws, and two defeats across their last six — yet their home results at Grimsta IP have often been more resilient. Degerfors, by contrast, have struggled to keep the ball out of their net on their travels, and the head-to-head numbers point to high-scoring encounters: the last six meetings between these sides have averaged 3.17 goals per game. If BPK can find the structured defensive performance that has surfaced at home, they will feel they can exploit a Degerfors back line that has shipped 1.67 goals per match over the same sample.

What Came Before

Brommapojkarna’s 2-1 loss to Örgryte IS last weekend snapped a three-match unbeaten home run. They had previously drawn with AIK and Elfsborg and beaten GAIS, suggesting they are capable of grinding out results against teams in the middle and upper reaches of the table. Degerfors, meanwhile, have won just once in their last five outings and need to stop the rot if they are to avoid being cut adrift.

With IK Sirius setting a blistering pace at the top of the Allsvenskan, the real scramble is happening from the top half down to the relegation play-off spots. A victory for Brommapojkarna could propel them as high as eighth, while three points for Degerfors would offer a lifeline in their bid to climb out of the bottom three before the season enters its decisive stretch.
