Nacional vs Famalicao

Nacional welcome Famalicao to the Estádio da Madeira in Ilha da Madeira for round seven of the Primeira Liga on Saturday, 19 September 2026. Both sides will be desperate for points as they meet at the intimate 5,200-capacity ground.

Nacional Looking to Bounce Back

Nacional come into this fixture seeking a positive response after a difficult recent run. The hosts recently suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon. Their home form has also been a concern early in the campaign; they were beaten on their own turf by Estrela Amadora on matchday four. Returning to the familiar surroundings of their Ilha da Madeira base, the home side will hope to channel the resilience of their recent promotion-winning campaign to secure a vital result.

Famalicao Chasing Elusive Victory

Carlos Carvalhal's Famalicao arrive on the island searching for a much-needed breakthrough, having struggled to find their rhythm early in the season. They recently played out a chaotic 2-2 draw against Estrela Amadora, a match that highlighted both their attacking capabilities and defensive vulnerabilities. Forward Georgios Koutsias has been a consistent presence in the final third and will be heavily relied upon to test the Nacional backline as the visitors aim to claim three points.

Team News and Injury Updates

Famalicao travel with a notable absence in midfield, as Tom van de Looi remains sidelined. The player missed their last two outings with an injury and is not expected to feature. However, Carvalhal's squad avoided any fresh fitness setbacks following their recent 2-2 draw, meaning the likes of Lazar Carević, Marcos Peña, and Roméo Beney are available for selection. Nacional will look to field their strongest possible XI following their demanding test against Sporting.

A victory for either club would provide a significant boost as the Primeira Liga season begins to take shape. Earning three points here could serve as a vital catalyst for climbing the table before the busy autumn schedule intensifies.
